SUBSTELLAR

Roadmap

Practical sequence. Later entries are not current work.

Every world goes deeper. A depth is a change of place, not a recolor of the stone above it. The working column stays Y=-224 through Y=319, sea level 63. That is 160 blocks under the vanilla floor. It is not Y=-192, and it is not a 512-block height.

  1. 01

    Development baseline

    Done

Done: the mod builds, the client reaches the main menu, and a dedicated server loads it.

  2. 02

    Deeper Overworld foundation

    Done

Done as the working column: Y=-224 through Y=319, sea level 63, familiar surface samples, deterministic seeds, and save/reload.

  3. 03

    Depth and strata

    Done

Done as a foundation: three materials under a warped ceiling, with moving 4-to-8-block bands. Not a final geology.

  4. 04

    Custom caves

    Done

Done as a foundation, then retuned: Deepwilds is the most open, the Abyss is the tightest, and the bands stay solid. There is no lava sea.

  5. 05

    Depth experiences

    Done

Done for the three new depths. Each has three biomes and two small loot rooms. Deepwilds has the one grove. Rivers and lakes are water. Magma vents are pockets. The ores in the world are still placeholders. The decided chart is in `docs/ORES.md` and is not generated. The Shallows and the surface stay vanilla. A new world is required.

  6. 06

    Settlement

    Done

Done. One rare built place can generate in any of the three new depths, in that depth's stone, with rooms, a path, light, and a chest. No new creatures. The six small loot rooms stay.

  7. 07

    Mantle and Core

    Later

The next depth expansion. Not started, and not a change to this column.

  8. 08

Simple preparation, then engineering, then spacecraft

    Later
  9. 09

    Destinations in order

    Later

the Moon, Mars, the Jupiter system, Pluto, then an unrevealed star system. No lunar design doc until that work starts.

Do not start a later step because an earlier one is merely sketched.
